The Intrapreneurial Manager

Leading to CMI Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management & Leadership

Intrapreneur

An individual within an organisation who takes direct responsibility for turning an idea, or need, into a sustainable, profitable finished product or service through leadership and innovation.

(Alternatively, in larger organisations it may be a significant improvement in such.)

They do this through the effective use of;

leadership and personal skills like awareness, creativity, risk-determination, decision-making,

communication, negotiation, networking, motivating and team-building, plus

the obtaining and management of key resources like finance, information, materials and time.

Throughout, they are also continuously developing their own learning and self-awareness, in particular their values, ethics and social responsibilities.

David Broadhead – May 2009

Our exciting new course has been designed specifically to develop the attitudes, behaviours and skills that we feel
our future managers and leaders will need to see us through this next decade of austerity.

“Personally I felt that the current economic crisis represents a failure of management emanating from the
consultancy led, analytical target driven mentalities that have developed over the last 20 years. What we need
in this next decade of austerity is a new breed of manager that can innovate and deliver sustainable organic
growth in an ethical way – in truth to be able to deliver more with less!  The discussions I have had with
'the Forum'  group just confirmed and reinforced this belief.”

“We then sat down and designed a new management development programme called ‘The Intrapreneurial
Manager’ to reflect this new belief and offer a refreshing alternative to conventional MBA type programmes. It’s accredited at the same Level 7 Masters and leads to the Chartered Management Institute’s Diploma in Strategic Management & Leadership qualification.  When we offered places on the first cohort they sold out within 48 hours
and we are now booking places on the next one!
David Broadhead - Press Release April 2009

With ten years experience of delivering Masters level management development programmes, particularly in Strategic Change and with a strong emphasis on Action Learning and Personal Development, we have designed this new programme around all the excellent elements of our previous offerings.

Designed around four key PiM modules and delivered one day per month, the programme is designed to be completed within a year. Assessment is by a combination of presentation and academic portfolio based around how a participant has delivered innovation within their organisation.  The modules are:

People & Leadership
Strategy & Marketing
Innovation & Change
Processes & Resources

Delivered to groups of no more than 12, active participation and discussion is a key ingredient of the 'learning experience'.  The programme builds upon the three key essential elements of 'real' managerial development and places more  emphasis on reflection and experience in addition to just academic knowledge,  Through this we develop true 'affective learning' , upon which an ethical, innovative managerial framework can be formulated by participants.

Significant guided learning is used outside the programme deliver time.  The course fee also includes individual one-to-one performance coaching to suit participants as required.

In addition we also expect all successful participants to deliver a significant sustainable social and financial return on their cost fees!  In these times of increasing financial constraint, we believe this to be a real necessity.  It's too easy to say no and not spend, much better to invest and generate a return - either through income and growth or by process improvement and reduced costs.

Participants will be registered with the Chartered Management Institute and therefore have access to their extensive professional resources.  We will also encourage active participation in local branch events too.

The rationale and educational philosophy underpinning the programme are available on a presentation here.

The course promotional flyer is available here.

The detailed course outline, structure and mapping is available here.

Courses run for one year and start when 12 participants sign-up.  We do not run to inefficient academic years!

Costs are £2500 plus VAT, and include tuition, registration fees, lunches and refreshments.  Courses are delivered at the Media Centre in Huddersfield - situated within easy walking distance of the the main railway station giving direct access to Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, York, Sheffield, Barnsley, Wakefield, Bradford, Halifax, Hull, Middlesborough and even Newcastle!

Please get in touch with either David or Chris for more information on how this programme can benefit you or your organisation.
