Short Courses > Change Management Principles

Our Change Management Principles short course is a typical example whereby concepts and materials developed on our academic MSc in Strategic Change Management programme have been refined and developed into an accessible two day course suitable for managers at all levels involved in the management of change.

We focus on developing and changing attitudes and behaviours of managers to change through a combination of thought provoking exercises, activities and inputs all designed to stimulate open honest discussion and debate from participants. This is not a course designed around a check-list, in the belief that if managers follow it they will be automatically guaranteed successful change - it is a serious challenging course structured in such a way to ensure that participants explore in-depth the issues and background to the change planned, the necessity to lead people through change and the awareness and use of appropriate interventions and techniques.  Whilst usually designed to assist with managing change directly,  it can also be configured and focussed towards larger groups and help to facilitate the acceptance of change.

Following our significant involvement with the public and voluntary sectors, the course particularly benefits managers from these environments and discussion regarding "the role and freedom for leadership in the public sector" and "is there a role for entre/intrapreneurial activity" are activities that are actively encouraged and reflected upon.

The typical 2 day course outline is as follows;

The workshops can be delivered nationwide to corporate groups but also to individuals when there is sufficient local demand. Ideally between six and twelve participants are required.

This course is one of three congruent courses designed to facilitate effective change in people and organisations:

•  The Coach Yourself Through Change course looks at assisting personal change.

•  The Change Management Principles course looks at developing awareness of, and the techniques behind managing organisational change.

•  The Managerial Skills Development course focuses on the learning processes that underpin generic skills development, whether personal, professional or managerial.
